We are Explee. We send ~600,000 emails a day and email is our biggest cost.
We are hiring one person to take the whole thing over.
Explee is an AI SDR: you give it a URL and it does the whole SDR job itself, down to
writing the emails. The emails have to be hyper-targeted, so we run our own GPU cluster
and scrape the entire internet to aim every message. Sending is the expensive part.
Its what stands between us and cash-positive, and nobody owns it full-time today.
The numbers
| emails sent per day | ~600,000 |
| domains in fleet | thousands |
| mailboxes in fleet | tens of thousands |
| vendor spend per week | $30,000 - $40,000 |
| email infra in company COGS | #1 |
The job
- Run experiments on the fleet. mailbox wear-out, 30 vs 35 sends a day, weekends,
warmup schedules, IP pools. there is no manual for this, you write it
- first weeks: sort out the tests we already ran, then start on the backlog. we have
ideas for months, what we do not have is anyone to run them
- the budget is yours. vendors mostly. twice already a vendor sold us cold mailboxes
as "warmed" and we only caught it after paying, when the spam rates came in. now we
audit every batch on delivery day
- 80% hands-on. you code
- the number you are hired to move is cost per 1,000 emails sent. the one you
must not break while doing it is reply rate
Things we can not explain
- unwarmed boxes from one vendor keep beating boxes that another vendor warmed for a
whole month. we recounted it three times. it holds up, and it makes no sense
- gmail to outlook spams less than outlook to outlook. yes, really
- warmup does almost nothing for microsoft
something breaks or surprises us every week. you will decide what to test next.
Who fits
An ex-CTO, head of infra, or a strong team lead who still ships. The kind of person
who reads the actual SMTP session instead of the vendor's dashboard. Who can also haggle.
Email experience is not required.
What we offer
- $10,000 - $12,000 / month + equity
- $2M ARR, going for 20x this year, just closed a round. your metric is the P&L
directly
- 9 people, everyone codes. we deploy on average every 24 minutes. our own hardware:
CPU, GPU, storage (long story)
- AI runs a huge part of the business already, so the team only works on whatever is
most important or most interesting
- you decide what to buy and test. there is no approval process (there is no HR
department either)
- remote. full-time; starting on a contract or part-time is fine
the team. 9 people, everyone codes.
How to join
- send email to: [email protected],
subject "EHLO". plain text is fine
- deep-dive with Vova, the guy who runs this infra today (60 min)
- paid experiment on our fleet
- call with Alex (CEO), 30 min
- offer
